We'll be back at Silt Hay Days at the end of August, and we'd love for you to be part of it! The Garfield County Democrats will be marching in the parade and hosting a booth throughout the event.

We're looking for volunteers to walk with us in the parade, help greet visitors at our booth, and share information about the work we're doing in our community.

Whether you can give an hour or spend the day with us, we'd truly appreciate your help.

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold has spent her career focused on voting rights, election security, and protecting access to the ballot.

First elected in 2018, Griswold became Colorado’s 39th Secretary of State and the first Democratic woman elected to the position. She was reelected in 2022 and has spent two terms overseeing Colorado’s elections and working to protect and expand access to voting.

Now, Jena Griswold is running to become Colorado’s next Attorney General, and we have an opportunity to welcome her right here to Garfield County!

Join us in Carbondale on August 25 from 12:00 to 1:30 PM for a chance to meet Jena, hear directly from her about her campaign for Attorney General, and ask questions about the issues facing Colorado.

It’s time for one of our favorite traditions of the year: the Annual Garfield County Democrats Picnic!

Join us Sunday, August 23 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Grand River Park in New Castle.

Our annual picnic is always one of our biggest gatherings, and this year we’re looking forward to another great afternoon together. We’ll have speakers, music, plenty of food, and most importantly, a chance to spend time with friends, neighbors, candidates, volunteers, and Democrats from across Garfield County.

The Garfield County Democrats will be providing hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers.

If you can, bring a dish to share! And if you can’t, please don’t let that stop you from coming. Bringing something is absolutely not required. We want YOU there more than we want your casserole.

And don’t worry about bringing a salad. We’ve got the salads covered!

Grand Valley Days is here, and the Garfield County Democrats are ready to celebrate in Parachute!

Join us Saturday, August 15 for the Grand Valley Days Parade and this year’s theme: Red, White, and Bucking Blue!

Garfield County Democrats: Meet us at 8:00 AM to help decorate our float. Parade lineup begins on 4th Street and continues down Railroad Avenue. Look for our lineup number marked on the street.

We need everyone with the Garfield County Democrats lined up and ready by 8:45 AM because judging begins promptly at 9:00 AM. The parade begins at 10:00 AM at the intersection of Parachute Avenue and 3rd Street.

After the parade, stick around for everything Grand Valley Days has to offer!

How much more should one community have to endure before enough is finally enough?

For years, Garfield County has been at the center of controversy over the ICE detention facility in Glenwood Springs. Residents, faith leaders, and community organizations have raised concerns about how the facility has operated, including allegations that it exceeded the limits of its Special Use Permit and lacked the accountability our community expects.

 Afer months of testimony, public meetings, and evidence presented by both supporters and opponents, the Glenwood Springs Planning and Zoning Commission voted to revoke the facility's Special Use Permit. Now, the final decision rests with the Glenwood Springs City Council.

This isn't just about one facility. It's about whether local laws matter, whether permits mean what they say, and whether our community has a voice in decisions that affect all of us.

On Wednesday, August 6, we have an opportunity to stand together and show City Council that Garfield County believes in accountability, transparency, and the rule of law. Please join your neighbors for a peaceful protest before the meeting and stay to make your presence count during public comment.
